I love recipes like this: super easy to make, very quick to make/bake, and a total crowd pleaser. You can really make this recipe with your fish of choice, but be aware that thicker filets will take longer to cook. This recipe is very easy to scale if you want to do more filets.

Ingredients

  • 3 tilapia filets

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (60g)

  • 2 TB mustard (30g) – see note

  • 1 TB maple syrup (20g) – see note

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup pecan flour / pecan meal / ground pecans (40g)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400F (205C). If using an air fryer, you can wait on preheating until your fish is prepped.
  • Pat the filets dry with a paper towel.
  • Whisk the mayo, mustard, syrup and garlic powder together in a bowl and brush both sides of each filet with this sauce. You will have about half of the sauce left over to use on the baked fish.
  • Coat each filet with the pecan flour/meal. See the video for my method.
  • To cook the fish, either bake at 400F (205C) for 8-10 minutes or use an air fryer set to 360F (185C) for 10 minutes. I like to spritz the filets with some avocado oil, but this is optional.
  • Serve with lemon and/or the sauce from step #3.

Notes

  • Mustard: You can use whatever mustard you want — yellow, brown, Dijon.
  • Maple syrup: If you are cooking low carb, I recommend ChocZero maple syrup. Use the code SERIOUSKETO at checkout to get 10% off your purchase. You can use whatever syrup you want, but the nutritional info is based on using ChocZero.
