I love simple recipes that can be infinitely customized. This whipped feta dip is the perfect example of that. The foundation of the recipe is insanely simple, but from that foundation, you can make an endless variety of dips by adding the ingredients of your choice. Garlic, lemon, dill, mint, parsley, scallions, sesame seeds, harissa, tahini, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, walnuts, pine nuts, pistachios – let your imagination run wild!

Ingredients

  • Base Recipe Ingredients
  • 1 TB lemon juice (15mL)

  • 2 TB olive oil (30mL)

  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed (226g)

  • 12 oz feta, broken into chunks (340g) *see note

  • Optional Add-ins and/or Toppings
  • 1 clove garlic

  • zest from 1/2 lemon

  • 1-2 TB harissa

  • crushed walnuts or pistachios *see note

  • chopped parsley, dill, scallions *see note

Directions

  • To a food processor, add the garlic (optional), lemon juice, olive oil, cream cheese and feta cheese and process for 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary.
  • If you want the dip to be creamier, add a second tablespoon of olive oil and process for another minute or two.
  • Optional: At this point, you can add anything you’d like into the dip (herbs, Kalamata olives, harissa, chopped nuts, chopped cucumber, etc.). Alternatively, you can use these as toppings for the dip.
  • Transfer to a bowl and decorate with the toppings of your choice (anything from step #3 or other suggestions from the video below).
  • Serve with cucumber slices or keto crackers.

Notes

  • In the video, I suggest that a serving size would be about 1/5th of this recipe. Upon further consideration, I decided 8 servings per bowl is more realistic.
  • For the feta, I recommend block feta in brine. It will whip up better and be more creamy than crumbled feta.

Hi, Steve. Thanks for this amazing recipe. Now I have something new and delicious in my repertoire to serve my grown kids when they come by. This is definitely a keeper.

  3. Just made this! Really good! I used Flackers as a vehicle to dip. Thanks Steve!

  4. Steve = just made this and can’t stop eating it. So good. I had some leftover roasted garlic and added some of that with the fresh garlic and it made a great addition. So yummy.

I made this for tonight’s super bowl. The lemon zest really made it. I did add Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel’ seasoning ad served with veggies for dipping. It was great! Thank you.

This is fantastic! Served it to a bunch of stereotypically macho, omnivore, wine-making guys —- raves all around without even asking. Gone! Will absolutely make again (and I’m vegetarian ketovore lady-ish person). Well done Steve!

  8. I just made this two ways. I did your lemon zest topping and the Harrisa oil. Words cannot describe how wonderful this dip is.

***made the flaxseed Crackers to go with and they are phenomenal as well. Will definitely be making again.

THANK YOU STEVE !!! *chefs kiss*
