The combination of ingredients in this dip may sound unusual, but it creates layers of flavor that will blow your mind. It’s sweet, tangy, savory, and umami. I’ve made this for countless parties and family gatherings and it never fails to please. I rated this recipe as “medium” difficulty because it requires another recipe, Major Grey’s chutney, to be made first.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely shredded sharp cheddar (226g)

  • 8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese (226g) at room temp

  • 1 tsp curry powder

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 cup dry Sherry (120mL) *see note

  • 1/2 tsp MSG (Accent brand or Aji No Mot) – OPTIONAL

  • full recipe low carb Major Grey’s chutney

  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Directions

  • With a hand mixer or food processor, combine the cheddar, cream cheese, curry powder, Worcestershire, sherry and (optionally) the MSG. Watch the video to see my method for the smoothest, most consistent dip.
  • Spread the cheese dip on a standard pie plate, then add the chutney and spread that out evenly over the cheese mixture. If you are using my chutney recipe you will want to let it come up to room temperature and stir it up with a spoon first, as this will make it easier to spread.
  • Sprinkle on the green onion and serve with your favorite keto or low carb crackers. This dip can be served immediately or refrigerated to be served later.

Notes

  • If you have drinking sherry available, by all means use that. However cooking sherry (typically found near vinegar a the grocery store) works just fine and you probably won’t notice a difference in taste.
